Safe Homes Aroostook is an event to raise community awareness and funds to support two organizations that work to ensure safe homes for everyone in “the County.”
This community, family-friendly event will get people MOVING while helping two important service agencies in Aroostook County. The proceeds from registrations and donations/sponsorships go directly to                       Hope and Justice Project and Homeless Services of Aroostook.
Hope and Justice Project was founded 34 years ago and provides services throughout the County from Houlton to the St. John Valley.  Their mission is to educate the community on domestic violence, give help to victims in achieving safety, and to reduce social activities that tolerate and foster abuse and violence.  Homeless Services of Aroostook was founded in 1984 and provides shelter, food, and other services to individuals and families with children without a home.  The Shelter is based in Presque Isle and is the only one of its kind in all of Aroostook County.  For more information about either organization visit www.hopeandjusticeproject.org or www.aroostookhomeless.org.
A similar fundraiser, Hike for the Homeless, is a yearly event in the Bangor area recruiting over 1,000 hikers with a goal of $40,000 in donations for the homeless.
Safe Homes Aroostook hopes to echo this event in creating an annual fundraiser that supports both Hope and Justice Project and Homeless Services of Aroostook with the crucial funds they need.
